Before the kick

The ball is placed still in the relevant corner area. The flag stays in place, and opponents must keep 9.15 metres from the arc until play starts. A clear movement after the kick puts the ball in play; it need not leave the corner area.

A direct goal is possible

A corner can score directly into the opposing goal. The kicker must not touch the ball again before another player does. See Law 17 for the full restart rules.

Follow one runner

Try watching the same attacker through two corners. Do they approach the near post, move toward the far post or wait for a second ball? This small exercise can reveal patterns that are hard to see when following only the flight of the ball. It is a way to read the match, not a prediction of who will score.
