When watching the match, don't only follow the first pass. Look at who starts running from behind or beside the player who will return the ball. Even if the direct passing lane is blocked, a new lane can be opened through a teammate.

Don't assume that every time you see this pattern it must be a one-touch play. The number of touches can vary depending on the opponent's pressure and the timing of the teammate's arrival. The aim is to gain time and space rather than merely completing a set play.
